PARENTS MEETING November 22, 2003

Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend the meeting on this day. We had a total of 14 parents and Education committee members in all.

  1. Opening Prayer.

  2. Review of minutes of Parents meeting from October 25, 2003
    were read by Jim Koudounis.  Motion to accept the minutes by Litsa Lerikos and was seconded by Vivi Tryphonopoulos.  Motion passed.

  1. Computer classes were deferred until Steve Eleftheroglou was able to attend the meeting.

  2. Fundraising of citrus fruit sales were discussed  by Sam Karamoutzos which reviewed profit margin o 50% and the need to have the order forms handled properly.  

  3. Christmas Assembly preparation was discussed.
    Carole singing groups will be organized as itis a good fundraiser and cultural experience.  Discussion was made for 1 verses 2 days event and scheduling groups was made.  It was decided that Litsa Lerikos and Vivi  Tryphonopoulos would organize the transportation.  Steve Eleftheroglou will organize the children and parental approval forms.  Greg Theofilopoulos motioned to have December 21, 2003 for the one day event.  Christina Vitsentzatos seconded it and the motion passed.  Steve was going to give the priest a memo reminding people after church services.  Parents suggested Christmas tree ornaments from Santa.

  4. Item #3 above continued
    Steve talked about complications in using existing computer class facilities.  The board could not afford $20,000 to fund heritage schools of which there are four (4).  After January a proposal to use an alternate site is possible in the Centre for Life Long Learning.  Logistics were discussed briefly.  Discussion was made about used computers.  Steve will keep us up to date with developments.  Steve also indicated of possibly including the knowledge of or Christian faith within the school curriculum.
    More discussion was made regarding school hours increasing, decreasing and the merits of each.  A figure of $5,000  approximately, was given as a saving by reducing the Saturday program by a half hour.  Parent stalked about getting a petition signed to call a General Assembly on the matter.

  5. Apokries Dance Fund Raising is to be dealt with in the upcoming meeting.

  6. Motion to adjourn meeting by Litsa and seconded by Tom Portis - Passed..
