About Us:
Our
Mission Statement
To provide an environment where teenagers
of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church can experience, live, and
learn their Orthodox faith and culture. This is done so that as
they grow and mature, both spiritually and physically, they will
develop a commitment to God, the Greek Orthodox Faith and the Greek
Orthodox Church.
Our
Motto
"Know Your Faith"
Our GOYA is an association of Greek Orthodox teenagers, ages 13
to 18. It is a place where young people come to learn and grow as
Orthodox Christians in today's society, as well a place where our
youth can socialize and embrace the Greek culture. Many GOYAans
experience making new friends and experience the faith and culture
in a welcoming environment. It is a great way for our youth and
their parents to be involved in London's Greek Orthodox Community.
GOYA started originally in the United States as the Greek Orthodox
Youth of America. London, Ontario adopted the GOYA organization
June 14, 1956. After a slow decline in GOYA activity over the past
few years, we are coming back stronger than ever. As of now, we
consist of 30 members who are in the 8th to 12th grades. We meet
about once a month as a general committee and our executive committee
meets twice a month. Our yearly calendar is full of activities including
religious, cultural, charitable, athletic and social events. Some
of these events are:
- Spaghetti Dinner
- Fish Dinner
- GOYA's Summer Carwash
- Dances,
- Laser Tag
- Tubing
- Sporting events
- and the much anticipated......... Annual Canada's Wonderland
Trip!
Any Greek Orthodox teenager that meets the age requirement (ages
13-18) is welcome to join. They will be added to our mailing list
and are welcome to participate in all the youth events.
